Chinese opera singer Sun Yu will give a recital in Tyler-Tallman Hall on the Davidson College campus. Mr. Sun is in Charlotte to perform with Opera Carolina. He will be accompanied by pianist Cynthia Lawing of the Davidson College faculty. Mr. Sun's performances in Charlotte last fall won the hearts and souls of hundreds of local Chinese-Americans and opera-lovers -- and an invitation to sing with Opera Carolina for the next two seasons. An award-winning novelist, Mr. Sun will intersperse his vocal performance on Sunday with stories from his life and work. Mr. Sun comes from a musical family; his brother, Sun Guoqing, is one of China's best-known pop singers.
